Beyond my duties as an educator and graduate student, I am an athletic coach for various teams at the junior varsity and varsity level. I enjoy an active lifestyle focused on health and fitness. I continue to find a passion for travel and seek new adventures as often as possible.
I grew up in a house of educators and have always seen myself eventually teaching in some capacity. I was finally hit with the ‘teaching bug’ my second semester of freshman year at university while enrolled in a foundations of education course. The opportunities that became available to me left a sense of excitement and nervousness. Would I live up to the expectation of two incredible teachers I had as parents? What if I thought teaching was for me and had to find out the hard way it, in fact, wasn’t? The anxiety subsided when I was able to visit my first classroom as a student teacher to experience the environment and uniqueness of teaching. I immediately felt I was in my element and would surely find my path through education. This journey has continued professionally for the past seven years with no signs of slowing down. I have taken my career overseas to teach internationally in Southeast Asia and South America. I have been lucky to continue my experiences with my wife, who also teaches. I see myself as a facilitator for my students to achieve learning outcomes and experiences in an optimal environment. I have always strived for my students to achieve the following goals:
-
Always seek out information and stay informed
-
Challenge yourself every day, no matter how big or small
-
Put forth effort in everything you do
-
Present yourself with confidence knowing you can achieve greatness
